After careful consideration I have decided to transfer all hardware review activities to a new domain.  I purchased Hardwareasylum.com in 2012 and have been working hard to build a new and improved Ninjalane on that domain.  If you are reading this you have reached one of the archived articles, news, projects and/or reviews that were left behind during the site migration.

Please update your bookmarks and be sure to visit the new and improved Ninjalane at Hardwareasylum.com

    Overclocking

Being a midgrade video card, some gamers will resort to overclocking the GTS 450 to improve their gaming experience and extend the usable life of their system.  NVidia has always been known to come out with a special mid-range card that overclocks well and stays in most enthusiasts'  hearts till the next generation is released. Let's see if the GTS 450 has that potential.
The overclock we were able to attain was pretty good, but we are sure with some more time, and tweaking, we would have seen even higher numbers. Still these clocks came with very little extra heat created, so the potential for more speed appears to be there.
Across every resolution, the overclock resulted in moderate boosts in framerates with the lowest resolution taking a huge boost in performance. That would be considered a great success.
Once again we see gains across all resolutions.  However, the 1680 x 1050 resolution shows the greatest gains of what the overclock can do for the GTS 450.
